Abstract

This study examines the relationship between sustainable competencies and entrepreneurial success of food and beverage firms in Rivers State. The statement of the problem is the lack of strategic, collaborative, and opportunity-driven competencies to ensuring entrepreneurial success for the home-grown food and beverage firms. The problem is not unconnected to the overbearing inflation, rising operational cost, changing customer preferences, inadequate infrastructure and staff training, managerial and leadership deficiencies been persistent; And these factors are negatively affecting the human capacity to proactively hone skills for entrepreneurial success. It is worse for businesses that are yet to adopt sustainable digital systems. Apparently, technological opportunities for business enhancement are not cheap either. Going forward, the study adopted a cross-sectional research design, a purposive and stratified sampling technique, studying thirteen (13) food and beverage firms in Rivers State. The unit of analysis was organisational level. Therefore, out of eighty-eight (88) managers, we successfully retrieved and analyzed forty-eight (48) via the use of questionnaires, and the Spearman’s Rank Order Correlation analytical tool on SPSS. The findings revealed that there is a significant relationship between the variables of sustainable competencies and entrepreneurial success of food and beverage firms in Rivers State. The study recommends advancement of the sustainable competencies aforementioned. By engaging Management hierarchy for proactive planning, seek government support for equitable attention, clearly communicate the organisational values to employees to secure high patronage from customers, and healthy competition for the industry.
